Accommodation in Vienna

Vienna is an expensive city and so as the accommodation options too. But that’s only if you are looking for the spots inside city center. Once you broaden your researches outside of the city center you will also find very comfortable and decent accommodation options. I found my cute and chill accommodation from booking for a quite budget friendly price per night.

The useful transportation system of Vienna will help you get to the city center approximately in 20 minutes even if you are staying outside of the city center.

Sightseeing in Vienna

Planning the sightseeing for Vienna was quite fun, it is a city of art itself, not only with the most-known museums it has but also with the historical buildings full of architectural masterpiece which never fails to amaze the eyes of the travelers. Make sure to see as much as the spots that I will be recommending in this blog to make the most of your trip.

Transportation in Vienna

During my trip in Vienna I’ve used underground metro stations most of the time for transportation and it’s safe to say that it was very easy to use and after the first day you start to feel like a local who knows how to travel with it with such ease. You should definitely buy one time tickets or to make it more efficient you can also buy several day ticket-passes. Otherwise you might get charged heavily if you get caught trying to use the public transportation for free.

Nightlife in Vienna

Unfortunately the nightlife in Vienna isn’t too active in the city center, most places start to close around 10pm and you are lucky if you get to find some bars open when it’s almost midnight. But around the city center you can still find clubs, bars etc. which stay on until early hours of the next morning. Best advise would be to ask the locals for suggestions.

Some of the spots that I have visited in Vienna:

Equitable

The exterior of this whole building is impressive enough that you won’t have to go inside, or actually can’t go inside because this building is used as a private area such as offices and for other purposes.

The outdoor is usually locked but I was lucky enough to enter inside when someone else was entering and it’s safe to say that the interior was also as impressive as the exterior of the building.

St. Stephen’s Cathedral

As soon as you go out from the underground subway station to stand in front of this huge masterpiece you need at least a whole minute to appreciate it’s beauty.

It’s visible from most parts of the city center and it’s also free to enter so don’t hesitate to take a look inside as well.

Belvedere Palace(Museum)

One of the most known museums in Vienna and also in Europe which exhibits the famous painting “The Kiss” by Gustav Klimt.

It’s a big museum with also a big garden on it’s backyard as well so have it in mind before you go that it might take at least 2-3 hours off your time if you are thinking about visiting it.

Albertina Museum

Another museum I visited while I was in Vienna. It’s located in the city center and very easy to reach by underground station.

Compared to Belvedere Museum, Albertina Museum is a modern art museum with many abstract art pieces while Belvedere Museum has more classical & historical ones.

It looks small yet it also takes some decent amount of time to finish the museum. It might take around 1 or 2 hours for you to finish this museum fully.

Volksgarten

Volksgarten is a big open public park area perfect to chill in-between the sightseeings to recharge some of your energy.

You also get to see the Parlament Österreich(Austrian Parliament) building with it’s magnificent exterior architecture.

I’d suggest you to bring some snacks and drinks alongside of you while you get to enjoy fresh air, soft grass and beautiful views all around you whilst being within the nature itself.

Schönbrunn Palace

Another architectural masterpiece that will fascinate you as long as you keep staring at it. It has a subway station named afterwards and easy to reach after getting out from the underground but to warn everyone who wants to visit this place, it is really big and you will be walking around a lot to cover all parts of it. There is another building on the hill up but to get there you will do a small hiking session and climb to reach there, although you will realize that it was worth the effort after you get to see all of the Schönbrunn Palace from up there and have a seat on the benches before you are ready to go back down.

Blockfabrik

If you are interested in bouldering/climbing then I highly recommend this climbing gym which is in Vienna. Luckily this place was 5 mins walk distance from where I stayed and I had the chance to try it out. They open very early around 7:30 AM(might change during weekend) and it’s less crowded in the early hours. Outside you have a chilling zone to eat/drink whatever you like and hangout with your friends before/after you climb and the inside of the gym is also very modern design with good materials overall. If you also like being active during traveling then this is an option you might wanna try out.

Grelle Forelle

When it comes to electronic music I have a passion for techno music, after asking a few locals and filtering down my researches about nightlife in Vienna I’ve decided to give a chance to a nightclub named “Grelle Forelle”. It’s slightly outside of the city center but thanks to Vienna’s well-designed underground map it becomes easy to reach there also.

Around 9pm only the “kitchen stage” is active inside the club but as the time approaches 2-3am the mainstage becomes active and you get to choose where you wanna dance and vibe. I recommend Grelle Forelle if you are into electronic music, especially techno.
