Accommodation in Kosice

While doing research for a place to stay before my Kosice trip I struggled to find many options either on Airbnb or Booking probably because not much people gives their apartments/rooms to rent it out to travelers for accommodation purposes. I managed to find a budget-friendly accommodation option a bit outside of the city center but it was in a very calm and peaceful neighborhood and I enjoyed my stay after all.

Sightseeing in Kosice

Košice has a very small old town area therefore planning isn’t a big struggle. You can finish the sightseeing just by walking around for half a day in the old town. There are couple of tourist attraction spots but to be honest rather than the sightseeing itself I liked the peaceful vibes and intimate ambiance of the whole old town area more. It’s a cute city which you can have a one-day stay while traveling to other countries through it’s destination to add more stories and memories to your traveling experiences.

Transportation in Kosice

I mainly used busses and trams in order to travel from the place I stayed which was slightly outside of the city center. Safe to say that it took maximum of 20-30 minutes to get to the city center in a quick way.

Unfortunately public transportation doesn’t last until late hours since it’s a small city so be careful if you decide to stay up late strolling around the city center.

Nightlife in Kosice

When it comes to nightlife most spots like bars/restaurants in the city center are all next to each other so you will have a few options to choose from. I tried out a cocktail bar with tasty shots but couldn’t experience much of a clubbing environment when I was there since I only stayed for a night, therefore I don’t have much to share about it unfortunately.

Some of the spots that I have visited in Kosice:

St. Elisabeth’s Cathedral

This cathedral with a stunning exterior architecture sits right in the middle of old town and adds more historical vibe to the city itself. You can enter inside for free but there are limits to where you can go and sit. Also for a decent price you get the chance to climb the bell tower of the cathedral through very narrow spiral stairs until the top, while you get to ring the bell yourself you also get a perfect viewpoint from up there which gives you the opportunity to see most of Košice.

The Singing Fountain

A tourist attraction point located in the park which is in the middle of old town.

The fountain reacts according to the beat of the current music playing and at night time also the light shows add more visuals to it. If not for the whole fountain show it’s still chill to sit by the park and rest before you get to move again.

Fountain Of Signs

Another fountain located really close to The Singing Fountain.

What’s different and special about this one is that there are symbols of every astrological sign around the fountain stone and the power of the water sparkling out of each sign below resembles the energy of that sign as a local told me.

Mestský Park

A very big park covered all in green with lots of free space to chill or lay around without anyone bothering you.

Perfect spot to getaway and be surrounded by the nature sounds.

There is a fountain show taking place in this park also so you can entertain yourself with it or even get refreshed from it if you sit or lay close enough to it.
